![]() Then Google announced Inbox by Google and I saw the bones of my old desktop favorite, but in an online-only app with a firm declaration that they weren't interested in bringing it to the desktop. After all, Google must have seen what I saw - a clean interface and smart way of dealing with email that ditched the boring and boxy subfolder system that plagues Mail. But there were bug fixes! I would be fine, I told myself. Then Google snatched them up and development (other than bug fixes) stopped altogether. It was everything I needed to wrangle my family’s Gmail accounts. But for an OCD email packrat like me, who likes to keep their Inbox at zero, seeing those subfolders with their zombie email counts makes me twitch.įor a while, I used Sparrow. ![]() Granted, some of that is just that Mail and Gmail don’t mix all that well together and that shows in how Mail parses the data. On iOS it’s OK, it gets the job done but in OS X? Once you pair Mail with a Gmail account, you’re suddenly staring at folders that have unread counts in the thousands.
